The Art of Sake at Kabuke
Nestled on the second level of a heritage shophouse along Telok Ayer Street is a sake-filled gastrobar called Kabuke. Kabuke’s name is apt to to its name sake- a bar that marries the art of kabuki, Japan’s classical dance-drama, and the wonders of Japanese sake that’s complemented with a hearty repertoire of contemporary Japanese cuisine.
Curated by Sake Sommelier Keiji, guests are given the opportunity to explore different flavors of sake from our growing collection. Our sake menu includes helpful descriptions of each sake and an interesting sake chart for good measure. Try out our Sake Flight, a set of 3 50ml glasses or shots, that is a recommended “sampler” for those who are adventurous.
Modern Japanese Cuisine
To fully indulge in the sake experience, Chef Rio Neo creates refined dishes that explodes with umami flavors. Shiso Tempura with Hotate Tartare and Crispy Goma Wings are salivating dishes that are the perfect fit for their drink offerings. Rice bowls such as the high-grade wagyu lunch bowls, and truffled gyudon are crowd favorites. With optional foie gras or creamy uni add-ons, they’re made even more delectable.
Once our front doors are open, guests will be greeted by warm, almost crimson lighting and velvet curtains. The bar is decorated with sake-adorned walls and traditional Japanese decals. Guests opting for a more private setting can opt for a cozy room that can accommodate up to a small party of eight. This space is nicely veiled behind two massive, beautifully hand-painted colorful Kabuki-themed fans.

What I like about Kult is that its difference with other bar, that is usually just a good place to drink. More than a drinking place, Kult is also a good mixture of culture that brings classic and indie type of twist for its ambiance. We always enjoy our time here!
